facilitator: sarah peyton - empathy brain
event description : join sarah peyton for 5 days combining constellation work with explorations in relational neuroscience and resonant language. this workshop will combine two compelling subjects. first, how do aspects of story and narrative appear in constellation work? how is story woven into the fabric of our lives and our understanding of ourselves and our place in the world?
secondly, we will look at the stories imposed on us by society. what happens if we invite the unconscious power of the systems we live within to show up explicitly in our constellation work? how do our unconscious biases and the ways we have been shaped by the world around us show up within our own stories and how do they impact our own feelings of agency and personal power? this is not comfortable work, but it brings great self-compassion in its wake.
participants will alternately experience sarah as constellator, and participant-constellators who will begin to explore constellating with the help of relational neuroscience. this event is part of a constellations masterclass series, but can be attended as a stand-alone as well.
event format: this event is an in-person retreat/intensive that stretches over 5 calendar days, starting with a dinner on day one, an evening session, three days of work from 9am until 9pm, and then a completion morning session on day 5, ending with lunch.
first evening, then days one and two: what is the story? the use of narrative and the hero’s journey in constellation work. in this workshop, we will take a look at all aspects of narrative as they appear in constellation work: the relational neuroscience of narrative; the journey into the question; the use of resources; who the story belongs to; timing and resolution. we will learn and practice constellations from the point of view of story, taking some time also to explore myth, legend and fairy tale, and where they may appear in constellations.
day three and final half-day: constellating the patriarchy. what is it that we do not know about ourselves in systems? what happens if we invite the unconscious power of the systems we live within to show up explicitly in our constellation work? what is it like to begin to see our own ceding of personal power to systems and authorities? how is it to see the shadow that has been cast on our family systems by the hierarchies of the past: laws; church; family patriarchies; the systemic holding of power?
each day we alternate between short lectures on neuroscience and constellation concepts with mini-constellations to explore and practice the concepts, and then we do large group constellations. if you’re a visual learner you can imagine small islands of didactic learning, surrounded by slightly larger islands of small-group learning, and then interspersed with large, full-group constellations.
both being a facilitator and being a seeker happen by lottery, thus not all participants will have a chance to be a seeker or a facilitator. for those participants with US passports, we will have a day of constellations at the prison before the workshop begins when Coffee Creek permits this, at no charge to participants. this event can be attended as a stand-alone if desired, but is intended to be part of a year-long masterclass series which allows for constellation facilitators to deeply integrate relational neuroscience into constellation facilitation, and to have new learning about how to leverage solid understanding about how brains work and how we heal from trauma into traditional constellation work, even if the relational neuroscience is never explicitly referenced with clients.
